MTX hard to get?

So, this week my rheumy called in the script for a new vile little vial of meth. The pharmacy has tried twice to order it, but their suppliers have it backordered. Some of you who have been at this for awhile may remember this situation from a couple of years ago. Anyone else having problems?

Yes! I do remember this problem from a couple of years ago. Now I am taking a once a week shot without any problems getting the meds. I know how frustrating this can be because I went through the same thing. Can you try using a different pharmacy? That is what I did. Don't give up and keep on trying to get the meds, and eventually you will get
what you need.

I have enough for this week for sure, and maybe next. If they can't get it in by the end of the week, they said they will call around town for me. Gotta love a pharmacy that has your back, and mine does. This is the injectable and not the pills, by the way.

I've heard others on FB discussing a shortage. My ins co decided last week that I have to use their mail order pharmacy now for my mtx. But the retail pharmacy said they didn't know why because they had plenty in stock. It's a $10 rx. I have enough to last me a little while so I've been putting off the mail order headache. I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I call. (I'm already dealing with the specialty pharmacy for my Enbrel and wasn't up for more than one battle last week) I remember the shortage too. That's why when my ins co decided to only approve these single use vials and I have to waste half of it I wasn't happy. If I take less than a ml and the vial is 2ml why make me waste it? Why not approve the 10ml multi-use vial I used to take that lasted me 12wks? I'm still baffled over that brilliant decision.

To resolve the last shortage issue, I thought they approved more generic suppliers to ensure it wouldn't happen again?

I get my MTX from a specialty lab, and decided to call them today to ask if they are having any problems getting MTX injections for their patients. The representative said as far as she knew there were no problems getting the injection medicine.
