I'm between doctors at the moment: my first rheumy left town, the second was a complete horse's patootie, and the earliest I can see anyone else is mid-August. So, can you kind folks answer a question for me?

I've been on methotrexate for a year, and this weekend got sick for the first time while on it. Fever, cough, sinus stuff, a viral gift from one of my kids. I'm due to take my next shot of meth tomorrow. I'm pretty sure that's a bad idea, but when is it OK to resume it? When I'm pretty OK? Totally well? Totally well for a few days?

I realize none of you are rheumys, but I'm sure many of you have been there, done that. What's the conventional wisdom?

I had the flu a couple of months ago; had to go to urgent care and the doctor was really concerned about my MTX intake; I ended up getting both an antibiotic and Tamiflu...he then told me to call my rheumy first thing to let them know what I'd done, so I did.

I still took my MTX - then two weeks later my cell phone decided to deliver the voice mail that said I should skip a week of MTX until I'm better.

I lived :)

But yes it did take me longer than normal to get better; I was sick for four days. The flu used to just take me out for 24 hours.
