Left can be ulcer, but it's usually under your breast with a burning gnawing. They are sometimes eased by meals, but hurt a couple hours after eating, and they can peak at night/morning waking you from sleep.
the thing on my left side, the only thing i could really find about a spasm in that area was my spleen. which is confusing to me. however, it only happened that one time, so i am going to mention it but not worry about it too much. the stuff on my right side is more worrisome to me.
i know there is a mind/body connection to stress but I would be more stressed if I did not have a full time paycheck coming in so I convince myself that I can compartmentalize my perceptions of relaxation and take them around with me even when stuff sucks;
i have tried the past 10 years to alter my perception to having a kind but perfectionist demanding non stop stream of consciousness over achieving non married, no kids, works 24/7 boss. I have been pretty successful. not 100 percent but pretty successful. he means so well it's just that he has nothing but work and the idea of kids, home and a chronic disease and working full time is foreign to him.
the best stress reliever after I cleaned up my reactionary state at work was when I stopped mtx. I could then remember my date of birth and for me that meant stress went down at work as my cognitive presence returned but swelling went up.
I try to discount stress probably because I can't stop work or leave it. i try to hum within the cacophony of craziness. i don't always win. but i like to pretend i do. i hope that is good enough :)
it must be great to be able to walk away from a job when you have to and to still float.
