hey there y'all,

It's Sat. night late and I'm supposed to take my 5 mtx pills tonight. So.... I look in my little pill bottle and ...didn't notice before...I only have 3 pills, should have gotten a refill a couple days ago. I went ahead and took the 3 pills.
So... do I just wait till next Sat and resume taking 5? Or... do I refill the Rx first thing Mon AM and take the 2 pills I missed today??

Guess I could call the rheum. on Monday but thought I'd ask the experts first--- ??? :) Sus

If it was me in that situation, I would get my refill on Monday and take two pills that day. Then on that Saturday get back on schedule. This is not a recommendation, just my own personal thought.

Call for a refill for starters. Do you still have the pharmacy handout that accompanies your prescriptions? I find it useful to hang on to a copy for every med I get. You should find info there, that tells you exactly what you should do in such a such a case. If you don't have that, or don't find what you're looking for, both your pharmacist and your rheumatologist will give you the info.

My hunch is they'll tell you to NOT take the 2 pills on Monday, and wait to get back on schedule next Saturday, but, I don't take MTX, so I'm just guesing here. Don't trust us. Get the scoop from the pros.

As jdfwood says you should get the script refilled and take the two right away. Then get back on your regular schedule. You need a constant amount of MTX in your system for it to do it's best work for you. I've forgotten my pills a time or two, it's kinda hard not to when I have to take so many. You can also always call a pharmacist to ask about dosing, plus if your pharmacy is closed you can call another one even if you don't get your meds there - they are always very helpful.

Alot of pharmacies are open for awhile on sundays, if it is cheaper for you some where else they can even fill just a couple pills for you

I did go ahead and refill my Rx-- can't get it till tomorrow- Monday- when I pick it up I'll ask the pharm and if he isn't helpful I 'll just call the dr-

An update on my post--- Both the pharmacist and my rheum. said not to worry about missing two of my 5 mtx pills- said I could have taken them soon as I got the refill- or I could wait till time for my next weekly dose and resume taking 5. They both said mtx stays in your system and a one-time dip like that (just taking a partial dose) wouldn't set me back any.

darn. I'm always late. I was going to say if *I* were flaring like crazy, I'd take the 2, if things were pretty much under control for *me*, I'd wait for the next 5. But that is only *me*. I am glad to see you got the scoop from your doc, though. Thanks for the info!
