November of 2009 I could not get out of bed some days due to RA pain. That is when I started enbrel. My pain was significantly reduced in two weeks and continued to get better to the point that I started trying to run in July 2011. I ran a 5k (3.1 Miles) race thanksgiving morning finishing 2nd in my age group (60-64) with a time of 21:59, then Sunday morning I ran the Space Coast Half Marathon (13.1 miles) finishing 6th in my age group with a time of 1 hour 52 min.. I am a bit sore, but mostly sore muscles not anything like the RA pain. There is hope! I pray that you all can be as fortunate as I have been.

Well done you! This is pretty unusual but none of us experience RA in quite the same way. I have a gym acquaintance who also plays tennis. She has been diagnosed by her GP with RA (doesnt see specialist so diagnosis might be dodgy) and had had steroid injection in her shoulders. She continues to play tennis (and does quite well I hear from others in the club).

Most years I can travel overseas, cope with long hauls and lots of sight seeing walking the other end. Others couldnt contemplate this.

We sufferers are on quite a spectrum!

I am still waiting on insurance approval for Enbrel. I pray that if we can get it started I will have results like yours! Horaay for you!!

That is really fantastic, I'm also jealous. I'm lucky to just get the day to day things done. I admire your spunk!
I put up my chritmas tree up by myself, that is the closest I will get to a marathon. =)

That's great! Keep it up. I have not ever tried Embrel, but since starting Orencia I have been able to quit pedisone and stayed fairly active. No running but plenty of dancing with my praise dance teams.

Hmmm, makes me wonder about my treatment. But I have very low inflammation anymore, and still a lot of pain. No osteo at this point. I do have inflammation and degereative changes in my spine...maybe that's it...
