Anyone else have a severely dry mouth or metal taste? I'm currently on Enbrel but noticed that this started before I started that, could it be from the prednisone? I'm on 15 mg a day, I've been on it for about a month and a half now.

I've heard of both being caused by mtx. Never heard of prednisone causing it.

have it on the MTX. Right now nothing matters I am in the middle of a flare.

This is so weird that you asked - I thought that it was just me as I couldn't really explain it or figure out why I have this strange taste in my mouth when I eat - I am on MTX - thanks for letting me know that I am not crazy lol

If you rule out meds, it could be Sjogrens syndrome which is common secondary to RA. If it is SS, there is medication to relieve the dry mouth and you also have to treat dry eye.

Dry mouth is not just annoying. There are enzymes in saliva that protect us against cavities so dry moth puts us at higher risk for cavities.

YES, I had exactly the same thing happen when I took Prednisone, it was horrible. It was like even touching my fingertip to my lips produced a metallic taste My rheumy changed to Methylprednisolone (Medrol) and absolutely NO problems. Give your person a call and request the change. Good luck. Trish
