thanks to reading something RASally had posted some time ago, i decided to start my own medical file. i had gone on an organizing spree some times ago (before my ra dx) and set up different folders - one for my husband's gp stuff, one for his 'other' doctors, one for my gp, one for my gyno, one for my 'other', one for rx, one for the pets (yes, that goes in my medical file folder!).

i have a plastic accordion file folder thing that has the elastic that holds the flap down that i thought would be great for a medical file. i'm trying to figure out what is essential to bring with me to the doctors, and what can be filed in my file box. i have copies of my bloodwork, the X-rays, and a list of my prescriptions. i'm not sure if there is anything else i should be asking for. i've been going to the same gp's office my entire life (save 5 years i lived in florida) so they have a huge file on me - no way i'm asking for any notes there.

should i be asking for copies of my rheumy's notes? should i keep all my health-related stuff in there (except for receipts)? even stuff from like the gyno - would my rheumy need to know that (or vice versa)? any advice appreciated!
