Ask yor rhuemy about injectable MTX. I take one shot weekly. The pills never helped but the shot form did. Been on both humira and enbrel, neither worked for me. Ask your doctor which one has a program to get free meds initially to see if they work. I got my first dose of humira free. I also got 6 months of enbrel free. They sent me a charge card, I gave it to the pharmacist and I got the drug no charge. Hope this helps and good luck,marcia

I have been on enbrel weekly for about 6 months now and it has helped me a lot. I have minimal pain, stiffness. The shots are simple to do. Go for it!!

I'm taking Remicade by infusion because you can tweak the dose or frequency. When
i was making my decision I found that people were split, except for Kineret which was infrequently used. I agree with Marcia, check with your doctor and the pharmeceutical company to see what programs are avail. Whatever you decide, I pray that it has the desired results.

Definitely check with your doctor - Humera and Enbrel didn't work for me, but Remicade was a life-saver for years. Hope you find the right mix for you!

Enbrel is working very well for me right now.

This is a repost from an earlier reply, but I have never tried Humira. My Rheum told me that Humira does take longer to see a response, don't know if this is true or not?

I am now on my 3rd month of Enbrel. I wanted to give up on it after 3 weeks (saw no improvement) but my Rheumie told me to hold out. I am now seeing with each week, that my symptoms are really improving. The last to really hang on was my fatigue, but even that is getting better. I was able to do some cleaning yesterday which I have not been able to do in months! The Lymphoma component really scares me, but with us having an autoimmune disease we are already at a higher risk of developing it, so what the ###%^!.

The downside, and my Rheumie does not know why - the day after my injection it usually induces a small flare, and I feel just king of icky. Always just about 24 hours, then I am OK.

I am also a proponent for Enbrel so far, just keep in mind the timeframes vary wildly. Some see results in a few weeks, others can take up to 6 months. Good luck!

My body had rejected every biologic except Enbrel! It worked almost immediately for me. I loved it. I think that for some reason it also helped put my body in remission. I have been off of it about a year now and only take aleve when feeling bad! I was on it for about 2 years.

Go with your intuition....sometimes a feeling can help you out!!

How did you know when it is time to go on an injectable? I'm on MXT 6 q wk and recently I have been feeling horrible again.

Thanks everyone for you support and help..I desided on Enbrel..my frst shot was tuesday this week....I'm really hoping it will work..ts almost a year now of trying different things and so far nothing has helped...I'm still on Prednisone..been on that a year..MTX I've been on about 5 months..injectable about 2 months..now we added the Enbrel....sooooooooooooo now the waiting!!!..sheesh i really want it to work..keeping my fingers crossed..only when they dont hurt or burn!! LOL

I am about to go back on meds for my RA I was on enbrel and did not think it worked, but since being off it for 14 months - now I know it was helping more than I gave it credit for, so keep with it, good luck to you, I sure hope it works..... hugs

I switched to injectable MTX as well. Definitely worked better than pills did for me.
