My hip is still out of commission off and on mostly on. My knees can't handle the added stress. My ankle wants in on the action along with the rest if my feet. But the top half if my body must be feeling left out so my elbows are having a tantrum and my thumbs. And all of a sudden the first knuckle of my pointer finger is histerical with jealousy. Lol. OMG and all that stuff I can't take it anymore. I can not wait to get some answers about my back quick so I can start back on meds. As bad as I'm hurting tho there is no large amount of swelling. Weird considering I CAN NOT use my hand to lift something heavy?

Swelling is the elephant in the room with inflammatroy arthritis. Some people do it, some don't. Some doctors see it where others don't. Kelly at rawarrior.com has several articles about swelling. Between the articles themselves and the dozens of comments on each one, there's a lot of info there.

Hi Kimberley, so sorry you are not feeling up to par. I must be having sympathy pain for you as my hip is starting to hurt because my knee is hurting and I am certain it is the way I am compensating to walk so that the knee does not hurt as much. Wishing and hoping you are feeling much better before the weekend.

It has also been my experience that sometimes the pain occurs without swelling. It still hurts the same though! Sorry you're having such a rough time. I hope you feel better soon!

Well wow. That's tough & the days must be long for you.
I'm wondering if your back could be contributing to any of this.
The spine is complicated & more often the not sends pain to other areas of the body.
Another thing to keep in mind if one area of the spine such as the lumbar is problematic then you should keep an eye on the others, cervical & thoracic.
On top of the RA my cervical causes pain in my shoulders, fingers etc... Lumbar at times my toe
Just a thought
Gosh I do hope you get some relief.
What a shame, keeping you in my thoughts.

good info ... was wondering about that ..i dont swell as uch as i used too , somdays it will be one finger then next day five fingers and a toe or hips hurt (thats the worse) that makes a nauseated feelng from teh pain..and thenmaybe nothing just pain..and still noticabel joint changes ..all to much at times :(
