Liver and MTX

mt Liver Enzyme were elevated today when I got my Test back. I am still swollen in my leg and knee. and the Rheumy wants to put me back on 2.5 mg of Pred. I hate taking because if my Liver enzyme is up already, won't that make the Enzymes go up even more? The Nurese doesn't seem to think so, but I differ. What do you ll think. Is there anything I can do to help my Liver while taking MTX. I used to take Milk Thissle but am not sure if you can mix it with all the meds I'm taking now. Will the MTX make the swelling go down once it kicks in for good. I've been on ot for 2 mos now. I have no pain elsewhere, only my leg and knee a little.
I am so confused of what to take and what not anymore. My next appt. is not until the 24th. of August, I am just scared that I might have Vasculitis. Maybe I should stop reading all the stuff of what you might get with RA.

I try to take care of my liver. I was a heavy drinker in the past. I eat lots of raw fruits and veggies. Breakfast is usualy a green drink or fruit smoothie in the Vita Mix blender. I eat very little meat, mostly plant based protein and healthy fats from nuts, seeds and cold pressed oils. So far I have good liver enzymes. I don't use any detox for the liver other than what is natural from raw foods. Buy organic too.

I have a Vita Mix and use it alot. I don't eat any Red meat. Lots of chicken and Fish. My diet is similar to your's. I don't understand why My Enzymes won't come down. I think I'm in the 2% people of sied effects.

I've read that MTX put you in remission on another thread. Does thast mean you don't take MTX or other Drugs anymore?

I am in remission with MTX. I been taking it since Sept of last year. It started to work after 7 weeks and kept getting better. Since November I have not had any pain, swelling or stiffness. I don't have any side effects either. This is on remission http://arthritis.about.com/od/arthqa/f/remission.htm My RF was 247 and my CCP was 190. I was told before that I might not have a good outcome due to my high numbers, but so far I think I am doing great.

I was wondering when you get your blood text, how soon before have you taken your MXT. Some people have said if they have just taken it in the days before they always have high liver enzymes. Maybe you should make sure your being tested right before your MXT is due.

I take ny test on Mondays because I take my MTX on Tues. I have read that post about when to take the Test too, and that's why I go the day before my Meds
