Has anyone been successful in obtaining a term life insurance policy after being diagnosed?

What category did you fall into? And, if you don't mind sharing, what do you pay and for how much coverage?

Good question. I have a small policy of 150k now. If I go on disabilty I'd lose the 75k benefit from my job and i'll be looking to replace that. How about one of those policies that say "no medical exam"? Do they still ask questions about medical history? If they do then We are in trouble my guess is that this policies have a high premium and not pay out much. There's also whole life. I don't know much about it but your agent will.

I already had a whole life policy before being diagnosed with RA. When I tried to increase it after I had been on several biologics I was unable to. I was able to get group disability insurance when I was first diagnosed with RA and just on Celebrex. Good thing I got that then because now some 11 years later I would not be able to get anything. Advice to those who do not have a diagnosis or just received a diagnosis, get insurance early on while you still can.

I'm nearing the year that my pre-RA term life runs out. However, I recently signed up for short term and long term disability insurance. RA usually knocks You out of eligibility, but since I haven't been on any immune suppressing drugs for a certain number of years and have been considered in clinical remission by my rheumy - THEY signed me up.

I'm assuming that term life will be the same way.

I have had my term insurance for many years before RA diagnosis. My guess is that if you are treated with immunosuppressant drugs you will probably have to pay a larger premium if they insure you. Worth a try though.

I was turned down for a long term care policy a couple of years ago. It was due to the RA diagnosis and not the drugs I was on. So, no luck there for me.

My advice to anyone would be get your insurance while you are young and healthy. (Unfair - but unfortunately it is the reality of the situation)

I just got turned down for long term care due to the fact that I do injectable mtx...

whole life is up front cash payment of over 100,000.00...yeh right..
Guess we will all jump right on that one.
