So I was told I have ARTHITIS in my right keen! I was given a cortisone shot, did not help at all!!!! going back to my orthopedic Monday to get again another shot not sure what it's called its suppose to be like a Lubricant. T hey did do a scan on my knee! I can't believe how much pain I'm in since it's not like bone on bone and he said it's not serve! holly hanna guess I'm just a Big BABY! I limp at work all day, can't cross legs I get really sharp pains in it I do a lot of walking at work...... which I think makes it worse! I hate it cuz it's really interfering with just daily activities! I hope and praying this other shot works! I'm 56 yrs old and feel Iam in no way looking at keen replacement...... unless I just can't walk any more. who else can relate to this................ anyone with knee pain please feel free to put your in put in! no need in sugar coating it. I can take it! LOL
I have horrible, horrible knee pain. The osteoarthritis is aggravated by the R.A. and so it's a huge issue. Cortisone shots didn't work for more than a few days and I am looking at needing a total knee replacement. I am trying to put it off by doing Orthovisc injections in my knee. it is a lubricant that they want to do weekly for 6 wks to help build up fluid and cushion the joint. I have just had one Friday so will have the 2nd one this Friday. I, like you, cannot cross my legs, put weight on it, let it touch my other leg in bed, cannot slip my foot into a shoe (have to wear flip flops and slides), etc. It's like fireworks going off in my knee all day. The same thing is happening to my other knee and my ankles so we are checking the disease activity in my blood to see what's going on.

I can easily relate. I've had two ACL repairs in my left knee and damaged the cartridge so much that there isn't any left. I have also had a custom knee brace that I wear under my slacks at work when I cannot walk well. Plus, I own about five canes. I'm still in my forties.
There are injections named Synvisc, Eufflexa, and OrthoVisc that I have had injected into my knee after the cortisone shots quit working. These shots contain hyaluronic acid which gives you cushioning and provides a lubricant so your joints move better.
These shots are usually given once a week for three weeks. It's funny you brought this up today as I was given shot number one of OrthoVisc this morning.
This is my fifth round of this type of shot. The physicians hope to get one year out of these shots but the usually last me about nine months. Most insurances will cover this therapy once every six months.
