Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
I lost a lot of sleep a few weeks ago when I found, in an online medical record, that I supposedly have a potentially fatal disease. I don't actually have this condition- someone was just a moron- but it gave me food for thought at 3 am. I decided that, if this was true, I was just plain out of steam to fight another health issue.
It's tiring, it's frustrating, and when you don't get great results from treatment, or end up with side effects worse than the original problem, the temptation is to just say, "#@%& it" and walk away. Years ago I met a woman who swore the next doctor she saw would be the one who signed her death certificate. I get it now.
So, we come here, rant and rave, and find the strength to fight another day. You're at the top of the list of people who need to catch a break.
It's 3:45 am and I am awake because of the pain, I had to go off of all of my meds due to blood clots in my lungs, so now the pain and stiffness is crawling back in.
Hang in there and may you feel better soon!!
Modern meds and still surgeries are not a guarantee fix :( I hope that your dr(or a new one or two) can get you feeling better! I know it isn't the same-but does your dr say you could qualify for a motorized chair?
I'm sorry. It's hard to stay positive through it all.
Yet we have to find a way.
I'm not up on everyone's background but is your disease not controlled well with treatment? I imagine staying on treatments with all the surgeries is pretty darn tough.
Your educating others to think of the damage caused other then the joints. I thank you for that. So many just do not realize it can harm so much more.
I truly hope things get better. Very hard to see the positive when it's one thing after another. We can hope & I do. Not only for myself but for us all.
Scary just thinking about what can be next.
My nieces mom is much like you. One thing after another. She's not able to take the big gun meds. Yet she tries to just live her life. Inspires me even through the fear.
You may not realize it but your a strong person. You come here & give to us all in one way or another. You'll have better days. Because you deserve them.
