I get rashes to everything. The latest was when I took Valtrex for a sore. A giant weeping wound on my nose and one on my left index finger. It happened twice, 3 weeks apart. I've been on Valtrex mega times, but this never happened before. Not itchy, as my rashes usually are. My theory is I was burned from the inside. The scary part is - how many places did it burn on the inside, that I can't see. I guess I will just have to suffer through cold sores now.

I've always had sensitive skin, esp. to sun. I always assumed in recent years it was auto-immune, but who knows?

The itching is awful! Ice packs are the only thing I've found to relieve it. The open wounds sound even worse though, yikes.

YESSSSS!!! I get it mainly around the side burns, between the eyebrows & cheek area. Now I have some type of contact dermatitis around the waste & back as well. Uhhggg!!!

Have you checked out shingles? It is the worst itching I have ever had! And the only thing that helped was ice. I used to take a flexible ice pack and wrap it around my arm, (where I had the outbreak) put an elastic over my arm and the pack to keep it in place. The go to sleep. Wake up hours later, replace the ice pack.

Don't let a doctor tell you it is not shingles. It is sores, which seem to penetrate to the middle of the arm, but it is also a pattern that looks like shingles on a roof. I hope you both figure this out.

I have it from time to time in joint areas that are swollen on my fingers/toes. I hope yours is better. Ice sounds like a good idea. Best of luck!

Goodness, I hope it's not shingles! It's all over my body and doesn't hurt or itch anywhere but on my hands. It doesn't look anything like shingles, so I'm still thinking it's the medication. It's starting to get better, thank God. Ice definitely works to stop the itch.
