In the same boat?

A new area of pain, and I guess I want to know if anyone is in the same boat. My hands and wrists have been giving me fits over the last few months. First my wrists hurt, on night I was up all night crying in pain, my wrist felt like it was being squeezed in a vice. Then my hands started feeling weak and tingly and like needles and pins then ache and round and round it goes. Makes it soo hard to use my hands and can't open anything cause they are so weak. Took predisone after the wrist incident, they got better but it has returned again. :(

Sounds like a pinched nerve perhaps? Does heat help ?

Perhaps carpal tunnel (sp?).
Actually my first diagnosis on the path to a diagnosis of RA.
Have spinal problems also so can be a bit confusing.
Splints helped me out. If this continues to cause that degree of pain perhaps calling your doctor. Pin & needle type pain a long with any burning usually indicates nerve involvement, Neuropathy.
That can be excruciating & difficult to treat.
I could not use my hand at all. Just cried with pain.
Tried heat & ice, bracing helped me the most. Steroids also helped to control the pain.
Really hope you get relief.

Dealt with that for a few years. Carpal tunnel braces every night really helped.

I had the same problem and thought it was carpel tunnel. I started on Orencia infusions and I have no major pain in my wrists and hands. It was to the point that I could hardly do anything. The Orencia helped me out. I know how you feel and I hope you find relief soon.

yes. wrists and fingers were what initially drove me to the doctor (looking back my hips were probably the first sign). compression gloves have helped when it's bad; i go to sleep with them on and rip them off during the night. for me it wanes sometimes - i'll have pretty good days where my wrists and fingers just ache. then i have days like today, where my wrists have that vice like feeling (i never knew how to describe it renee, but that is exactly what it's like for me) and my fingers hurt and i can't hold onto anything. days like this i'm not allowed to do dishes or unload the dishwasher. so far prednisone is the only thing that's helped (10mg or more daily) and i won't take it for RA.
