I took MTX for 4 months (increasing the dose each month) before adding Humira. After a couple of years on the Humira/MTX combo, I was able to reduce the MTX little by little, and now I'm taking just the Humira every 2 weeks.

I did go up to once a week shots because I had to go off methotrexate for a while.....but then I got back on methotrexate and went back to taking Humira every other week....my rheumatologist wanted me to stick with only the Humira, but I HATE those injections and insisted on going back to methotrexate. Now that they have the manual injection I want to try that...I heard that because you can inject slower than with the pen that it hurts less.....
