Weird question. Has anyone heard of treating RA with hyperbaric oxygen? I know they use it for near drownings and C02 poisoning and for wound healing but someone insists i check into it for RA treatment and me being a nurse it doesn't make medical sense to me. Any input i would be glad to hear. Thanks

I have not heard of this type treatment for RA. I have worked at University Hospital for 15 years on general med/surg floors and now ICU and it is not used here. I can't see how it would work for RA or any autoimmune disease..

I agree Dorothy. With my medical knowledge i don't see where it would work and why. RA Sally do you know of any such treatment?

Sounds like BS to me, with a side order of "revenue enhancement" thrown in for good measure. They charge huge bucks for hyperbaric treatment.

RA, like so many chronic disorders, waxes and wanes. someone with RA goes into a hyperbaric O2 chamber and their Ra just so happens to go into remission at that time and BINGO, you have the latest "cure" for RA.

It's how these rumors of an RA "cure" get established but never hold up. My best friend has MS and faces the same problem....we get a good laugh out if them. Anyone for the raw red potato juice RA cure?

I had someone tell me that the cryotherapy would make my RA go into remission. NOPE

Thanks jen and bcatz. Yes i think it is hog wash. I csn certainly see how it would help wound healing but not RA
