To up the dose of Humira they will sometimes switch you to once a week instead of every two weeks. If you're not seeing much improvement, switching drugs may be a good strategy, too.

As far as it "hurting like crap", many of us would use stronger language! Are you using the autoinjectors? they do hurt worse than the regular syringes. As my rheumy said, also, there's "a little pH problem" with Humira.

i haven't started my humira yet (first shot tomorrow after work) but the autoinjectors for enbrel hurt A LOT more than the syringes. my rheumy said the syringes are less painful because you can control how slowly you inject the medicine - the auto pens just dump it in. i remember for enbrel i had to 'count to ten' for the medication to be injected by autoinjector; with the syringe, i'd go much slower and there was little to no pain.

I agree, they hurt like crap...when I injected into my thigh. If that is what you're doing, you might try injecting into the stomach. It may be because I have some excess fat in that area, but it is sooo much better.

you sincerely pay for that whooooooooooooooooooooosh of that auto injector. it dumps it all in at once.

if you can woman up (sorry :) kidding and do the syringe then you can put the crap in slowly and it will not hurt, the same , also icing does help if you happen to have the time. at work i never iced because i was looking to get it over with but at home i did.

when I was on humira, i could not switch to weekly due to the added stress on my lungs not an option for me. the rheumie said my particular brand of lungs could not have dealt with the over suppression of weekly which my rheumie said was something seriously to consider when making this switch, so it was off to orencia when the second in line humira did not work.
