First off, see which one your insurance will cover. My doctor asked for Enbrel, Blue Cross said, "No, Humira," so I started that. Had a lot of side effects, so after stopping Humira I was on Enbrel for four weeks. (Now off that until I find a new doctor and because the old office & the pharmacy couldn't find their collective butt with both hands in broad daylight.)

Both of them were giving me some relief, but I wasn't on either long enough to see the full effect. The first thing to go was the fatigue- YAY! I'm sure the next person to answer will have loved Humira and hated Enbrel.

I've tried both medications. I don't remember the frequency of either injection. Enbrel worked better for me. It took it for at least a few months. I was getting better until the last few injections. I wasn't getting worse but I hit a plateau.

I agree, start with whichever is covered by your insurance first. Also look into ehether or not the drug manufacturer has a copay assistancd program. I think that as people we will adapt to almost anything if it will bring relief of the symptoms we are suffering with. Whichever you start with yiu doctors office shd help teach yiu hiw to do the shots. Sorry for misspellings. Fingers too tired toniht. Good luck!

I was on both Humira and Enbrel. Neither worked for me. I didn't feel much different after 6 months on each.

I don't think it matters which one you start first unless your insurance refuses one. You will probably have to try the other one eventually. These drugs do stop working at some point. Then on to the next.

Good luck with your choice of treatment and hopefully no side effects. I didn't get side effects from either.

I have a friend who is on Enbrel - she has to inject twice a week for a while, then I think she said will go down to once a week. I am using Humira - which my insurance co. prefers. So far, for me, results have been good.

Forgot to add, Humira is every other week. If you get an infection (in my case, a sinus infection) I had to go off the Humira until after I was done with the antibiotic.

I was on both. I had some reactions from the Enbrel. Most at time of administration. After a yr, I stopped having any relief from the Enbrel. I just started 2 1/2 months ago on Humira. I am already noticing definite relief in symptoms. Even my family is noticing some improvement. I am feeling better too. Just a half hr or 45 mins ago, my grandson (almost 3 and 35#) got out of bed to go to the bathroom. He is learning to potty train right now. Did what he was trying to do and in all the celebration...........I grabbed him, lifted him up and swung him around like I used to before this last flare. It definitely was noticed by EVERYONE----------even him. I am on Cloud 9 right now. So basically, I would say try whichever the insurance would approve and DO NOT SETTLE for less then EVERYTHING. It is worth it. Good luck with your decision.

I have been on Enbrel and Humira and I was taking them once a month. My daughter in law also has RA (Stills disease - a worse form of RA) and we have the same Rheumatologist and she takes Enbrel every week. I guess it depends on the person's need. Also some of these biologics especially the IV ones go according to weight.
