I have been taking Plaquenil for well over 4 years. The only side effect that I have is the thinning hair. And I did not have that happen until I went on Mtx.

I must not have done my research, I didn't realize it had some of those side effects. I've been on it for a couple of months now. So far no real effects for me. I was really tired in the beginning, but that could have just been the RA. Hope it works well for you!

Been on plaquenil close to 3 months now and haven't noticed any side effect so far. Eye problems is one of the more serious side effects from plaquenil that you hear people talk about. My rheumy says it's mostly long term that causes the eye problems but recommends me to keep regular eye exams and make them aware that I'm on it. Hope it help yamaha and you tolerate it well.

I have been on Plaquenil for well over 4 years now. I have had no side effects to speak of. I keep up with my eye exams since that is a huge issue. But, my understanding is that with the low mg dosages now, the eye problems are rare. So, keep up with those exams.

I've been on plaquenil for almost 2 months. I've had no side effects. I can tell a difference in a couple joints, but not all.

I have been on Plaquenil 400 mg for 3 years or so this time. I have thinning hair too but I had very thick hair to start with. So for me that isn't a problem. I am also on MTX (which was making me sick with nausea and diarrhea so changed to MTX injections). So not sure which one is causing hair thinning... No other side effects. Have eye exams every 6 months and no problems there. Hope you don't have any side effects and that it works well for you.

I've been on plaquenil about 2.5 months - had to have clearance from eye doctor first, as well as extra blood work checked. So far, so good. I was diagnosed last year in September (after a year of on/off prednisone & inflammation); doctor wanted to monitor for first few months & I was scheduled for major surgery in Nov; has helped overall, been weaning myself off prednisone (1 every 3rd day). Dr wanted to try this one first as less overall side effects, but being an older drug takes longer to make impact. Hope it works for you! I'm hoping mine continues smoothly (as possible!)

I have been able to stop using my prevacid and I don't know if its related to the plaquenil or not. I did do a month of autoimmune paleo protocol and am reintroducing foods now. One food that always gave me acid reflux was eggs, and now they don't!
