I have had my current flare up since the begining of October. The longest one I've ever had. I've been on Plaquinil, celebrex, vita d, folic acid, and steroids 3x's since November. I have moderate days and very severe ones but no relief since before September. I have the most conservative Ruemy in the world and am currently waiting on an appt with a new one. Has anyone been this bad for this long? It's really starting to get the best of me. Sunday was my last dose of prednisone and yesterday I was in so much pain I could barely stand it. You could actually see bright red spots coming off my shoulders and arms. I was running a low grade temp and the heat was extreme coming from my shoulders. I woke up a million times in the night with severe stiffness/pain in my joints. I went to my PCP for immediate relief and he was like WOW! I have been in the hospital 2 x's since November and they think I have FMS as well. I have horrible/painful bumps under my skin in my upper arms and thighs and everything is sore to the touch. Is it normal to have no relief for this long? I've never had a flare last this long. I know I'm getting older but at this rate I'm getting terrified :(

I have been a "flare" since 2006... had a few normal days in 2009, I keep a diary.. Severe right? My rhuemy is pretty aggressive too, i am non-reactive to everything. Say a few prayers and light a few candles that yours can be controlled. Good Luck, wish it was better news.

I have been in a flare for about 4 years right now. The doctors can't get it under control so I just try and wait patiently until something will eventually work. I am one of those med resistant people so they are struggling with me. But something has to work at some point. I am 25 and graduated from college and I got approved for disability on the first try with in a month of applying so that tells you how bad it has taken over me. I try not to lose hope I hope that you get yours under control soon and that you feel better because this no fun.

I am a newbie - just got my 5th shot so just starting. You may find this hard to believe, but from a health food store, I got a referral to a massage therapist who is very good with therapeutic massage. If it wasn't for her, I still would not be able to use my arms because of my shoulders. The pain was so bad it radiated to where I thought I was having a heart attack. I see her once every 2 wks and find the $$$ just because she's helped with my hands, feet, everything! If you could find someone like that perhaps. My rheumy had no problems with me going to her but forbid a chiro.
