I felt tired and the first shot made me a little sick to my stomach. I will say that after time the shots worked better for me then the pills but I was always tired. Good luck hope you feel better soon....

I was put on MTX injections after pills really didn't do much for me. Even the pills made me tired afterward. I always try to inject the evening before a day off - then sleep off the effects! Or if still tired the next day, I don't have to be at work at least. Injection site can be a bit tender afterwards - first few times, I had some bruising that developed, but as my technique apparently improved, that hasn't been an issue anymore. No nausea. Presuming your doc also gave you a folic acid Rx too? This will help counteract any potential side effects like mouth sores. Good luck, and keep us posted!

As time goes on, I have less effect from the MTX shot. I never thought I would be able to self administer any injection but it is the same needle used for diabetics (very small). No bruising or site pain, no nausea, only a bit of tiredness the day after. My MTX injections are rotated around my navel per my RA doc. Hoping you won't remember it at all tomorrow!daizy8

it doesnt make me tired, it was really helping my lupus and now not helping much with lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. i dont know what to do now i wish i could have one day just one day with out pain or less severe

My husband does my shots for me - on Fridays so I have the weekend. Will get my 7th tomorrow. I am more tired than I used to be but I don't sleep well anymore from pain so I attribute some of the tired to that. I too take folic acid and seem to be ok with the shots. My first shot was in my arm and it hurt my arm - now do thigh. Know they are working. My numbers went from 29.4 to 12.9 after 5 shots. Supposed to be under 4.9 so it's coming down!

I have been on these injections for more than 10 years. The only time my thigh ( where I give myself the shots) hurts is if I hit a muscle or blood vessel. Did you pinch the skin first? I have found that after giving myself shots for so many years that my leg area is more tender because of the pricks, but that sensitivity is only while I deliver my shot. Also, are you taking folic acid by RX to get back what the MTX depleres? I have always heard it is important to drink lots of water too. Since I have kidney stone issues this is something I have always done even before the MTX.

I have been getting the shots since June, 2010 and I still get tired, not as bad the first couple months and the sick feeling is almost gone. I agree Folic Acid is needed and water, water, water. The MTX only lasts about 3 days in the system. I pinch and give in the hip area. hang in there & good luck.

I have been on the injections for over a year and they still make me tired. Sometimes I even have flu like symptoms, body aches, chills and exhaustion. Sometimes its not bad at all. I do have soreness at the injection site for a little while but it goes away fairly quickly. I too am on 3 mg of folic acid daily and I drink on average 80 oz of water a day. Good luck.

i got tired 2 days later, same with all effects from it, always hit 2 day later so every one is diff. but not im off it completely due to a bad reaction. i did get a year out of it

Hi sorry to hear how the methotrexate is making you feel.
I took methotrexate injection back in 2003/2004 it made me quite poorly and in the end I would rather try something else or not be on anything (yes I felt that awful....) I am sure it's different for everyone but I definitely didn't react very well, I hope you can keep on with it more than I did and that it will help you feel better soon. If the symptons keep persisting though I would chat to your Rheumatology nurse or doctor see what they can advise are you only folic acid as was advised to take this whilst on methe injection. That should stop preventing anemia. Take care
