I purchased a ThermoSpas Aquacisor exercise spa. Its deeper than a regular hot tub, but has enough room to do some water exercises. I love it - my husband and I get in every night for at least 30 minutes and it feels awesome for sore joints and muscles from a long day. We have ours outside, and even on a cold MN winter night it is wonderful. The other night we were having some freezing rain when I went out so it was slippery getting to the hot tub, but sitting in the warm water listening to the crackling of the icy trees in the wind was magical. It's quite spendy, but my accountant said that I could write it off my taxes with a prescription from my Rheumy, so that was an added benefit. I'm glad we made the decision to go for it - this tub has a 20 year warranty, so should last us many many years.

A few years back we gutted and redid the middle bathroom. My RD suggested an air tub as a replacement. Can't recall the name of it ( I can get it for you if you want it). It was pricey over $2000but I got to add it into my totals of medical expenses the year it was purchased.

The jets of a jaccussi type tiube are too hard on my joints. I will explain the difference between the two. A whirlpool jacuzzi has jets that make the water move. An airtub has no jets but the entire bottom of the tub has small holes in it. There are several settings you can use depending how rough or gentle you want the waterto be. The best way to dscripe it is to say you are in boiling water. The tube itself is very deep but has 2 bars on either side to help you in and out. Best of all it has lights that you aan turn on to set a relaxing mood and turn off the bathroom lights. Sorta resembles candlelight. It only will run 20 minutes, then after another 10it turns itself on to clean itself much like a self cleaning oven. They come in all sizes. I was stuck with having to get the dimensions of my old bathtub because it sits against and outside wall. You can probably check them out on line by googling air tubs. I toss in a little epsom salt, put my head on the pillow (an accessorie ) you can use and enjoy!

FYI: Hot tubs/whirlpools are often covered by health insurance for us!!! I plan to put one in my Master Bath after I get all of my debts paid off and can afford it. So before you buy, call your insurance company to find out which ones they cover!

I purchased a small outdoor hot tub made by Hot Springs. It can seat 4 but one of the seats does not have jets. Me & my husband do not want company in the hot tub so it's a perfect size. I like the size because it is manageable for me to take the cover off & on. In the winter I have mine set to 105 and it feels so good on your bones! I prefer the jets on low or off. Also due to the size I didn't have to hard wire it we had an outdoor outlet that we used to use for a pool filter. The only down side to that is that you have to choose between running the heater or the jets. We will spend at least a half hour in it and even in the coldest weather the temp only dropped a few degrees while we were in it with the jets running and it was not noticeable.
