Hello all, I need some advice please. I have been recently diagnosed with RA after 2 years of misdiagnosis. I have been on plaquenil for about 3 months with moderate to good relief. I still have to take motrin several times a day, but I am okay with that. Anyway, this week I was diagnosed with bronchitis and started on levaquin. On thursday I felt my hands were more stiff, by saturday they were stiff, swollen and I felt like every bone and joint in my hands is on fire! My shoulders are also stiff but not as painful as my hands. Is this a "flare"? Is this a common happening while sick? I cant take this and need suggestions. i am calling my doc on monday, but what would the next step be? I have tried soaking my hands in water, warm lotion rubs, taking extra motrin, nothing helps for long, I dont know what else I can do. I cannot even button my pants or open a pop bottle so something has to be done.

That's what happens to me when I get a flare. Your Doctor will probably prescribe prednisone. I hope you feel better soon! I'm sorry your feeling so bad! These flares really can take a toll. Hang in there!
