Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...

i got my flu shot already - rheumy and GPs orders. it's the first time i've ever gotten a flu shot. rheumy has advised my husband to get one too. think i know what we'll be doing tomorrow ;)
I understand... The one (and only year) I got the flu vaccine, I actually came down with the flu! I haven't had a vaccine since and haven't gotten the flu since. (Not saying it's a direct correlation.)
The hubby and I were just talking about this today. So far, 3 people in our state have died from the flu and they were all in their 40's. My husband is 45 and diabetic. I am 27 and recently started MTX which I hear can lower the immune system. We may try the vaccine this year and hope neither of us gets sick!
It's scary that people have already died and it's not even peak season yet! :(
Daughter was given the chickenpox vaccine when she was 3. Six months later came down with a terrible case of it. Then got the resulting bacterial skin infection. Vanderbilt used her to train a bunch of interns.
Vet recommended that I vaccinate my expensive show stallions against a common protozoan disease carried by possums. I did so, and after two years of regular vaccination against it - the only horse vaccinated for it came down with it. None of the non vaccinated horses got it.
Vet also recommended that I vaccinate all my horses against a common bacterial infection, strangles, because I was showing heavily. One month after vaccination my entire herd came down with most steadily form of it. Turned out that vaccine was known to cause that. Haven't vaccinated for it since and have never had it since.
I could go on and in. I just always end up as the statistical outlyer that vaccines hurt :)
