I took this a few years ago short term for some stiff neck problems. It made me sleepy the first time or two I took it but after a few days it didn't affect me in that way. It did work wonders for my neck and worked it out and I didn't need the first refill. My wife on the other hand took it and she slept, slept, and slept. Night and day she was sleepy for two weeks. She also was taking it during the day as prescribed was what was giving her problems with the sleepiness. It did however help her muscle related issues and went off of it after one script. I wanna get her some more. It was the quietest this house had been in years. Lol. Taking it only at night I'd say would be a great deal of help. It's amazing how well a good night's rest makes you feel. Making you sleepy and your muscles relaxing on top of that at bedtime has to feel nice. I'm not sure about this drug on a longer term but I'd check into it if I was gonna be using it for a while. Glad you are getting some quality rest.

I do take it at night only. I did research this med b4 taking it. It did say used for short term. My rheumy said its now used more for RA and other chronic conditions,so can be used longer term! Your house was quieter when your wife took it ( funny ) now our house is happier! Whatever it takes!

I have a prescription for Soma - a different muscle relaxer. It also offers a great night sleep. The first few nights I thought all the drugs I take (Enbrel, Mobic, magnesium, b12, and the soma) were finally working in perfect harmony.
Not quite the case, but It's still great to wake feeling good and finally getting decent sleep. I don't take it often because I've read that it loses effectiveness, much like other drugs do. So, I'll take it 2 nights in a row (1/4th the dose prescribed) and then not take it 3 nights.

My newest pain is from my lower back/rear area. I'm seeing an orthopedic doc Monday for it. If I can somehow resolve that issue, I might function well enough to get back to exercising/strength training!

Great idea bcatz! I may try to do that- take it on and off as needed. For the next couple nights, I'm going to take it though. I don't want to lose this feeling, but I also don't want to have to increase my dose or have it lose its effectiveness.
I didn't realize how crabby and depressed I had become. I thought I would just function like that for the rest of my life.

Ya know- I remember when I was with relentless RA pain that oxycontin did not touch I took a flexeril prescribed to my husband to relieve a muscle spasm caused by holding myself in such a way trying to not be in pain...and getting more all over relief from it then any pain med prescribed for me.....

So this is very interesting!

Meanwhile last spring I had such neck and upper shoulder blade pain caused by stenosis of the neck (?) which caused the muscle spasm in the shoulder-that I got a prescription of my own. I went to work in level 10 pain for two weeks b4 going in for a dx which required xrays, mri, etc. Flexeril used with Vicodin didn't touch it. I think when the pain is so great you don't get sleepy or woozy. I drove and worked 10 hr. days. It was all that I could do to hold my head up by noon pain wise and bought a cervical brace to cope. As I write this I realize I have a real problem. I'm a workaholic at my own healths expense. Ended up getting 2 steroid shots in the cervical areas affected. Praise God- SUCCESS!

Anyway- as I am in a bit of a flare that prednisone was prescribed for...maybe a flexeril should be my go too...

When I went on Remicade, it was a miracle drug for me. Five years and my liver was unhappy, so Back to the drawing board. I had three years of remission so that was a wonderful break.

Hey thinks, I thinks( hee hee) you should try the flexeril again. As long as you have it and your in a flare. Why not?

I've took muscle relaxers at bed & feel not one bit different in am. Wonder if it's the Flexeril. Perhaps it's allowing all those muscles to relax enough that you tense up with because of pain & discomfort. Added bonus of helping you get a good nights sleep. Whatever it's doing I hope it continues to help. Food for thought as our bodies get used to certain meds at times they are not as effective. Of course that's long term for most. There are those lucky ones that this doesn't appear to be a problem for.
My daughter took it for her back. Helped her out but usually made her tired enough to try to hold off till night.
Bcatz soma is the surcharged of Muscle relaxers. Prescription pads do not come out for that med much.
Newest pain sounds like may be SI joint. Just had block for mine. Pain in the bum right a long with lower back pain. Left over problems not related, hoping the block would take care of it all.
Dr did say RA can cause problems in that area. Not as common but not unheard of. Very curious to see what your doc has to say.

PW, LOL I'm sure I'm family would say something along that line.
The house would be a wee bit more quite.

Happy that you have some relief. Always nice to wake up feeling better. In these bodies who wouldn't want that.
