I bought a pair of fit flops some years back and had such high hopes - they were beyond TERRIBLE!

My best sandals or flip flops always end up being clarks.

When my feet first became involved, I really had no shoes that fit let alone were comfortable. I bought the Skecher Go Walks mostly because the felt comfy and were in my budget ( I had a coupon too!).
I wore them to my next rheumy visit and the nurse commented on them being the greatest shoes for sore , painful feet.

Once I hit my 'out of pocket' limit on my insurance( can't afford it till then!) I will be shopping for another pair!

Don't you hate that?
I am the proud owner of at least 4 pillows I purchased for my neck.
Including 2 that docs recommended.
They are in plastic down stairs.
I'm so sorry. Sounds so uncomfortable & painful.
I wish I had something to recommend. Almost sounds like the more cushion the better. Then you'd probably have a support issue.
Truly hope you find a pair of slippers/shoes that work.
Come to dislike wearing shoes at all.

what's a fit flop?

When my feet were involved I had specialty inserts made. Could stuff them in any tennis shoe and made life dragging my rolling book bag up and down the 1/2 mile hill at the university - do able.

Highly recommend going to a specialty shoe store that has a podiatrist on staff making custom inserts. Sure saved my mobility for those five years!

I now wear New Balance, Dr Shills and Naturalized shoes.

My foot doc had a sandal sale in winter I got Aravon sandals twenty bucks a piece they have been my faves let me know how these work for you I may consider this price seems good :)

I just went to a podiatrist for the first time this past Monday. He did x-rays, exam, and scanned my feet for orthotics. My insurance won't cover the orthotics b/c they only cover them for diabetics. So, I am out $350 and don't know if they will even help me. I am hopeful, because I haven't been able to go for walks for almost a year now and I'm getting overweight and flabby (just out of shape and depressed).

I have been researching the best type of shoes to get to wear with my orthotics when I get them (3 weeks). The doc recommended New Balance or Asics, and I'm reading that it's best to get "neutral" shoes to go with orthotics. Would love to hear any advice from anyone else here about any of this.

when I went to podiatrist, got orthotics made - were great, but RA changes feet constantly. I didn't wear them for a month, put them in my shoes, and they were terribly uncomfortable. So, they worked for 6mos. Just sad to spend $$$ and have them not last.

Hello, new to posting, but read this and wanted to mention a brand of shoe I just got....*Spira*....I had to google info as I had not heard of the brand..marathon runners often use this brand because they can run faster,longer without pain,fatigue because of the shoe design. I'm no runner, but have hip, knee joint pain, arthritis that has gotten really painful in the last year, my fingers, joints becoming red, deformed too. I checked the spira website, and they have walkers too, reviews I read were very good, but they are expensive,over a hundred$$, although if you are interested....4th of July there was a huge sale!

I checked around...found a site called *Heartland America*....they had spira walkers....with the velcro straps for $49.99..I have been wearing them over a month now and they have helped me alot....I have not used my old memory foam inserts....they sent me a $10 off coupon, so I ordered a pair in black too. The reduction in pain from just doing grocery shopping was huge for me, so I wanted to mention it in case this info could help someone else. Blessings!

I had to chime in on this thread since shoes and sandals are slowly becoming my nemesis... I did find that, like bcatz, Clarks have been the best for me - especially the Clarks Wave Walk shoe. WIth a metatarsal pad, they lift the ball of the foot (and the "rocks" in my feet), and the "wave" in the shoe rolls the front of your foot so your toes don't bend so much. They're not pretty, but they work well for me. As for sandals, I just found a pair of Tevas that have two strips of velcro across the top and a heel strap. I cannot do flip flops... trying to hold them on is flat out painful...

I'll sure keep it in mind. Come fall I'm looking for a good pair of walking shoes. Hate shoes in the heat.

I just recently bought a pair of FitFlops (it's a brand name) and like them a lot, comfortable supportive foot bed!
