My toes still burn once in a while, it's just RA telling you its there. The feet and ankles are the most common place to hurt. You need to get good shoes too, with good support. My pain is also my feet, and right hand. I get cortisone shots in my toes and ankle area. That always helps me.
Hope you feel better soon!

Burning in extremities is neuromas or peripheral neuroma. Its a nerve problem. The good news is it can come and go, though it might come for along time before it goes! i used to have to take my shoes off and message my feet WHILE DRIVING! My daughter gets it too and she does NOT have RA.
There are some herbs that are supposed to help.
Make sure your shoes are WIDE, especially at the toe. You should have room to wiggle your toes in your shoes. i wear MENS triple WIDE athletic shoes (or sneaks). :-) Women's wide are never wide enough, especially with my orthotics. But they look the same, so who cares?
I was having pain below the knee to my ankles and toes that felt like dripping fire and also "electric" pain in my upper foot between the great toe and the next one. Also had pain when standing or walking on the bottoms of both feet.
I was referred to a neurologist and he tested for neuropathy and sure enough it was. He seemed to think it was from the toxicity of methotrexate. He prescribed neurontin, which was a nightmare (a whole other story.) My RA doc approved the discontinuation of MTX, but have not seen him since.
Hope you find the answer soon. -daizy8
