my general rules for research are as follows:
1) if it's on a website that sells something, i basically ignore it.
2) if it's not a peer reviewed article published in a reputable journal, i give it very little credence.
3) if it has grammatical or spelling errors, i ignore it. reputable researchers would not publish any information with those kind of errors.
4) if it's been backed by a company or organization that stands to profit from the results, i look at it much more carefully. i usually will try to find other, less-biased research that correlates the findings.
guess what? okra in the glass of water doesn't meet any of these standards.
