I attempted to take my weekly Enbrel injection. I checked for clear liquid before injecting. I had a couple issues getting the button to depress all the way so I readjusted on my thigh.
Finally, it clicked and I waited for the needle prick and the burn. I felt neither. I waited the 12 or so seconds until the button popped back up. I didn't see anything on my thigh. Normally, I see a small bubble of liquid or a drop of blood (if I inadvertently hit a vein). I looked at the pen and the window was completely purple.
Did the pen malfunction? I keep thinking the liquid had to go somewhere and the only place it would have gone was my thigh. If the needle didn't puncture my skin, Enbrel should have poured on my thigh, right? But I should have felt the needle prick! None of it makes sense.
Has anyone had anything like this happen?

You said you looked for liquid before starting - did you see the bubble go up and down when you rocked the pen back and forth?
I would say to definitely call the Enbrel nurse line right away.

they will allow one free - it's your fault malfunction (which it does not sound like this was, just a heads up to all....not bad or 1,000 a pen.
i hate to beat a dead horse but this is why i like the pre-filled syringes which are painless - i did both with enbrel and did not like the pens - a lot of technology for such a simple process
