EMG testing

Hi, has anyone had EMG testing? Does it hurt? They said I could take some Tylenol before the procedure, and the pains verys from person to person. I'm just wondering if having RA will make the pain worse. I hate needles as it is, I'm sure all of you can relate to this because of all the blood testing.

Thanks so much! Good to know, I will definitely try to disengage myself. That is good advice. I will look up the mindful medication as well.

I've had them recently. I didn't need pain medication or anything. The needle is so tiny and it goes right in, is "stirred" a bit, and then on to the next area. I found it mostly interesting versus painful. I had both legs done in about 15 places each and the lower back.

Mine was done in conjunction with a nerve conduction study. That bothered me more. It was a dull buzz (taser like) that activated the muscles. It didn't hurt per se but did have a weird "hand in the electrical outlet" sensation.

prior to neck surgery I had EMG

the tests did not bother me. they were useful and I appreciated reading the paper results which I could actually understand for once.

i knew someone that was having a myelogram with no pain meds and I was given the skinny on her testing that put my emg testing into stark perspective :)

mindfulness meditation did jack for me sally with all those thyroid needle sticks (20)

sometimes you just have to bite the proverbial bullet to get the freakin' data that you want I guess.

I did not find the EMG in the same category. more like nuisance.
