Hello..I had last posted that after 5 mths the methotrexate was finally working. I asked my reumy if we could decrease prednisone as I had been on it for 7 mths. He told me to cut the 10 mg in half. I did and by day 10 my hips and back were hurting again
And my bp was 68/49. I upped the pred. Back to 10. 3 wks later and still not back where my hips were....and then...low and behold my feet started hurting. Badly. I never had it in my feet. I have been walking on uneven ground....then....my ankles swelled! I also never had swelling. I start a job Monday after 6 mth out of work....feeling discouraged. And you know how it is w loved ones....not much sympathy there....I do know I am blessed and it could always be worse

I tried that myself once (same dosage) to half just because I wanted to wean myself off it. After the second day I was so bad I couldn't walk at all along with the rest of my body. When I told my Rheumatologist what I did he kind of smiled and said you have to taper off Prednisone VERY slowly - like by 1mg at a time for a month or two.
Lesson learned!
However, if you started hurting 10 days after lowering the prednisone, it may be something else. I usually feel a smaller dose within about half a day.

Definitely tell rheumy about the feet. It's hard to work when you can barely walk!

Have you updated your dr on your feet and the swelling?
My heart goes out to you about your feet. I have always had problems with my feet from RA, but this past year, it has been so much worse. I can't even exercise or walk very far without a lot of pain. I go to my first appointment with a podiatrist on Monday (recommended by my RA doc).
I also think some other meds make our feet swell (even NSAIDS) and that causes problems with our shoes (i.e., pain). I hope we all find some relief soon.
I know from experience that prednisone has to be lowered very slowly. Now, since I missed that dose, it will be at least a week before I am back where I was.
If you are back on 10mg and are still swelling and having pain, you might want to check with the doctor. I have had to up my dose for a few days at a time to get the RA under control.
Hope you feel better and that this doesn't interfere too much with your job.
Stupid move but I tried that on my own, nope.
Went for surgical procedure & they had me reduce by half day before & none day of. As the procedure used steroids also. That day was miserable & that's down playing how I felt.
All I can say is every step, move, touch hurt.
I was stunned at the pain.
This med must be in small increments if your on it fur any real length of time.
Again I'm shaking my head over doctors.
So sorry you had to endure that.
