I asked the dr about this the other day and got nothing so I'd like to know if any of you suffer with the same strange experience.
Almost every night in my sleep I wake from stretching really hard. I have an overwhelming need to stretch and I do it so hard that I feel like I'm going to separate my knees, hips and ankles. I even feel as though I'm tearing muscle from my rib cage. It's not always that bad but most of the time. I think it is contributing to the knee problems too and def not sleeping much!
My rheumy had no suggestions since my electrolytes look good. It's not anything like restless leg syndrome. I find that if I'm very still I don't feel anything but as soon as I begin to move a muscle in my legs (in my sleep) I absolutely have to stretch.
Any suggestions or heard of such a strange thing?

I mentioned this a long time ago when I was sick with a different AI dz and those doctors didn't have a clue either and didn't think it was important. I think there is an important clue about it tho that means something they are missing. Wish they would look into it.
I've trained myself to some degree not to stretch in any major way.
I'll get sudden deep sharp cramp like pain. Almost like a Charlie horse.
Usually but not limited to my calves,feet, neck....painful to the degree it leaves me gasping. The feet/toes can freeze in a bent position. Almost like a nasty muscle spasm. In fact it very well may be.
Scares me now so I'll catch myself before any major stretching.
dont think its the exact same as your experiencing but I found it odd also.
