Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
As with most everything each of us is different.
The right treatment helps to control the over all disease for many.
With Some diet matters. As you'll see if you read others posts within this group. I did have some success with Enbrel & went through a short period of feeling almost normal.
Even on the right Meds flares can occur. Overall each day can be different with some better then others.
My doctor informed me they have no real clue why flares suddenly occur or why medications can suddenly stop working.
Like you many have a second auto immune or condition that can make it a little more difficult.
Like you I have larger joints involved. It's a sneaky disease & you can go through sudden onsets of pain in joints that normally are not
Problematic.
Finding the right treatment can be trial & error. Requires a lot of patience that I think we all struggle with.
Sounds like you need a solid diagnosis & treatment plan.
Often prednisone is prescribed to help & even assist with a DX.
With MG on your plate I'm not sure how doctor would proceed.
My sister had myasthenia gravis also although I'm not real knowledgable about that disease. Have another sister with RA, grandparent, cousins & some lupus & Sjogrens in the mix.
Does make me wonder.
Wishing you the best of luck.
Sammy
The thing is, one usually has to go thru a series of trial and error of finding out which meds work which exercises or physical therapies work, how much one can tolerate, etc.
For me personally, I have about 2 flares a year and then they ease up after the season adjusts or I take a different dosage or med review.
Yes, it does get much better but it might take some time.
Best of luck xo
On another front, the Enbrel is not helping my muscle weakness. It's only been this week that I realize the leg weakness is so noticeable. I have dealt with it for several years and am now wondering if MG is my next diagnosis. It could just be a side effect from RA, but I know these autoimmune diseases often travel in pairs. What led you to your MG diagnosis?
PS - YES! The tendons are definitely affected by RA. The only advice I have for the sleeping difficulty is to get the right medication or get on prednisone. :(
