Here are some of the highlights of my day today.
I needed to have a fasting blood sample drawn, so out the door with no breakfast. First, out to the nice people who do alterations to get the zipper in my winter jacket replaced. Sign on the door: Closed today. We'll be back tomorrow. Well, I won't. Working all day.
On to the lab. I get out, and check for the electronic key before closing the car door. No key. Coat pockets? Nope. Jeans pockets? Uh-uh. Passenger seat? Dropped on the floor? Cup holder? Gotta be in the coat pockets! No, no, no. Finally turns up between the seat & the console, where it probably landed when it worked its way out of my pocket. Inside, no line, good! Woman at the check-in counter wasn't the usual one, and boy was this chick in a foul mood. Couldn't be bothered to say, "Good morning", "Hello", or even, "Go to hell". Got visibly angry when I told her I would like a copy of the results mailed to me.
After that, on to the pharmacy to buy needles to shoot up the ol' meth. They were out of all but two sizes, one for inoculating livestock and the other so small I would have had to use two for the correct dose. Well, crap.
Then commenced the Tour de Pharmacie, trying to find someone who would sell me needles. I live in a state that has enacted laws so you don't need a prescription to buy needles. (Helps keep the AIDS and Hep B & C infections down in the junkies.) However, I went to THREE different drugstores before anyone would deign to sell me needles! I had the bag with the information on it of the ones I had just used up, but every stupid, ill-educated, self-righteous little pharmacy tech in town wasn't buying it.
At the third place the girl said I would have to prove to her that I take insulin to buy them. I told her I do not take insulin, I take methotrexate. Blank look. "Do you have it with you?" "No, ma'am, that's not one I regularly carry around in my purse." She finally let me talk to the actual pharmacist, who snottily agreed to call my regular pharmacy to see if I really did have a script for something injectable. Much to her obvious disgust, they told her that yes, I did indeed have a legitimate use for the damn needles and to let me have them. Sorry about spoiling her good fun trying to thwart a junkie.
All this before breakfast.

Today, the fun continues. Work is an ongoing nightmare. Got home to find out that part of the household heating stopped working. Great. Supposed to be in the low teens tonight, although warming tomorrow.
Anyone know where I can go to hand in my resignation? I'm finished.
But I am feeling pretty bad with all the narcotics I am taking right now. Regular ones, plus emergency ones. I tried to take Ibuprofen, what a joke. Best anyway, since I am allergic to it, and my kidneys don't like it.
I did enjoy your story, though! It is so hard to do all these things, and to be forced to run around so much more because of self righteous pharmacy assistants, is so frustrating!
What does a drug addict look like anyway?
PS. I got told by an elder in my Baptist church who has RA today to try marijuana for the pain. It is bad enough all my bad connection people are trying to force it down my throat. It is legal here, but I just have too many bad memories of that drug from when I was young. Or, maybe it would work, and be less harmful than what I am taking? Another thread, I guess!

I deal with my fair share of idiots and judgmental people as well as even worse in my opinion are the ones who wait on me and call me Ma'am....yes Ma'am that's right we cannot help you.

Though I do want to point out, I take offense at the thing you said about the junkies. I am not a junkie and I have Hep C. It is kind of ironic , in my opinion. I find that when I get caught up judging people it seems I get judged more too.
Do you want me to have Lum bring you some suppliers? If so, be aware that you can not give Lum any pie. Upsets his stomach something terrible - last time he ate pie he was arrested for a act of pollution and endangerment to the population. Cost him $9.00 to get bond - Judge Slocomb Holcomb threw it out of court - no evidence and it is a matter of public record that the evidence vanished into thin air.

What a strange thing to do! I bet that person didn't tell their rheumatologist what they were doing. And if she feels better, I will bet it is placebo effect, and that the damage is continuing.
Interesting. I googled "drinking methotrexate" and I could not find one hit. Where on earth did this person come up with such a treatment plan? Why not just take the oral pills?
What I really object to is being under the suspicion of being a user of illegal drugs when trying to do something perfectly legal- buy needles- to take the stupid mtx. People buy needles for all sorts of reasons. Hobby- and crafts-people use them to get minute amounts of glue or paint into a small area. Injecting wood with denatured alcohol will get dents to rise. Needles were legalized in my state for good reason. Why are they fighting with me for trying to buy them?
Bluedogs, don't send Lum! I live in the same state as Pie Town! We'd have to get the sheriff, and the State Environment Department involved!
