I have a mild/moderate case of diverticulitis. Went to ER last night thinking I ripped a muscle or got a hernia. I was dx about 20yrs ago with IBS and have been suffering from constipation for a couple months. Have GI apt as liver follow on Nov 9 so was waiting to discuss the IBS.

Lo and behold, last night, I just hurt. CT scan revealed the diverticulitis. My WBC hasn't even risen (and I'm not on ANY dmards or biologics or even prednisone to suppress - all a blessing in this case).

I am now on Levaquin and flagyl. Has anyone else had this? I read an association with it and RA - odd!

Hi bcatz, I have never suffered from diverticulitis, but I have heard it is very painful. Hopefully, you will feel better soon.

yeah i have a dear long term friend with it. she has an act up every year or two. sometimes she has to go inpatient. she has this disease you have combined with obstructive bowel. she really has to pay attention. she keeps a very modified pay attention diet and pays attention to the doctor ordered regimen to keep regular.

other than that, I seldom hear a peep from her about it. it's just common - of the relatives I know that have it plus this friend, none of them have RA or any other diagnosed auto immune.

have you done a colonoscopy yet?

I had a colonoscopy almost 20yrs ago when diagnosed with IBS. Had barium enema then too.

It looks like I'll be getting another one in a month or so after this chills out. Thanks very much.

you feeling any better today from the two different big power antibiotics bcatz?

can you move the liver appointment further out? when I take the
pneumonia antibiotics for about 20 days - two courses it causes the liver numbers to soar.

DEPOT!!! - ugh. I didn't even think about my liver numbers. I got them checked at the ER and ALT was 37 and AST was 27. Not great, but not bad.

I felt lousy all night and then suddenly around 2pm today, I felt better. No stabbing pain (except some nausea I assume is from the antibiotics). Getting old should be for young people! :)

those are within normal. good for you! congratulations.

i was thinking that if they are going to test you AFTER you finish your antibiotic course(s) of treatment - tell the liver doctor you want a couple weeks after you finish the antibiotics to detox :)
