Dental Disease and RA

I just wanted to let everyone know that because the peridontist I saw is a jerk that we should not avoid dental care. Periodontal problems are common with RA (never had it before). If the dentist does not know about RA or offer various types of sedation and appropriate pain treatment afterwards run out of there...or limp. There are great dentists out there. I just found a bad one. I'm looking at this as another lesson in caring for myself and being more active in my treatment. Just was feeling vulnerable and let this happen. Take care of yourselves...including your teeth. Love to all.

I am grateful to have a wonderful dentist who's been caring for our family almost 20 years now. He even told me I was pregnant with my son before any test confirmed it! We'd been trying to get pregnant and it just so happened that I was due for a check-up. Before doing an x-ray they asked if I could be pregnant. I said, "It's possible, but i don't think I am yet." They skipped the x-ray just in case and when Dr. Eder came in to examine me he said, "I think by the looks of your gums that you are pregnant." A week later the test confirmed it! We still laugh about that when we see him.

I love your dentist, tht is such a wonderful story.

I had a hard time getting pregnant, but I now have two kids!

I'm wondering what the dental issues are. I asked my rheumy and he said there are none. What do I need to be aware of?

On the fertility front, I was told I couldn't conceive. I was then diagnosed with Celiac's (one of the first of several autoimmune disorders before the big RA) and after a year of no gluten got pregnant and had a healthy pregnancy!
