Shar60, I don't know if things have changed, but two years ago, I was prescribed Humira, and my doctor gave me a card that made the Humira free. We would be over the household income, and they still covered it. Did you ask your doctor for the card? Also, ask your pharmacist; they usually know about all medication assistance. Given, Humira wants people to use their drug, they make provisions so people can afford it.

I hope you find some answers. That's a lot of money.

The nice thing about the co pay assistance programs ( I've been on Humira and now Simponi), with my insurance, the specialty pharmacy would charge the total amount toward my insurance, then credit the co pay assistance toward my payment. What this meant ( I have a high deductible policy) is that I hit my deductible very quickly ( without actually having it come out of pocket) and then hit my total out of pocket so for the rest of the year all of my medical ( and my husbands) was no cost! No copays for drs visits, prescriptions, etc!

You should call the specialty pharmacy your insurance recommends and ask how they handle the credit of the co pay assistance.

I was on humira about a year ago and with the co pay assistance card i paid 5.00 a month for the pre filled syringes and they came from a speciality pharmacy which was no big deal

For the biologics that I have been on,if I had private insurance ( I do, through my husband's employer ) the drug companies picked up all the expenses except between zero and five dollars a month. I have been on Humira, Enbrel, Actemra, Cimzia, and Orenzia. All have the co-pay. I am now on Rituxan, which also has the assistance program. But it only pays for the drug, not administering it, which is done in a hospital cancer center. By the time I pay for the expense in doing that, I have met my deductible, so the co-pay doesn't make any difference.
