yes I deal with this daily..even when its hot outside at times, I have to wear socks. I think its nerve damage from inflammation due to Ra. I have very little sensation in my feet and hands too sometimes. its something I just cant get used too. lately Im noticing alot of calous looking skin comming out the sides of my thumbs and big toes too. it even bleeds on the pointiest spots likeIve been picking cotton all the day or runnuing barefoot across a desert. weird huh?

If I don't wear shoes, my feet start freezing, and it will take hours for them to warm up. It's something that happened post-RA, so I would assume that it's related. I try to wear slippers when I'm home to keep them a little warm. If I let them get cold in the first place, I use an electric hot pad to get them back up to normal temperature.

Megan, I keep an electric heat pad in my recliner now and I put it on my feet Sat. and it helped alittle but it also made them feel clammy. But, the heat pad is our bff huh!
Tina, I think you had the electric tingling feelings in your fingers when I posted about that in the past. I do also get cold hands and I also have the calousus on my hands. Being a previous landscaper, post RA, I would describe it as shoveling without gloves. I have them on the palms of my hands at the base of my fingers. They hurt if I try to drive and using a broom. I don't do much of either one of those anymore. Fortunantly , mine haven't bled yet. I am sorry yours have. If I described the pads of my feet I would say it feels like stone bruises all over, from the base of my toes to the heals.
It is comforting to know your not alone and to find out the problems are real and normal (in a pathetically sick way) .

Raynaud's? It's very common as a secondary condition to another connective tissue disease

you know wabby,Ive wondered aboud Raynaud...Im gonna ask Rheumy next time about it. is this one of the symptoms? my cousin has Raynauds with lupus.she never really talks about how it effects her though. gonna have to check into it more.

It definitely sounds like Raynaud's to me.

My hands, feet, ears and nose gets really cold (cold enough that I probably wouldn't need ice in my drink if I could hold the cup with my hands and feet haha). My hands and feet then go blue or purple. Then they sometimes get a bit tingly. Then they'll go white. Then they go bright red and really hot (and it hurts!). My nose doesn't go through those colours or ever really return to really hot. But my ears will go bright bright red and really hot. I once had a 'flare up' in one ear at the doctors. She was trying to take my temperature and the difference between the ears was quite significant.

There's not really much you can do about it other than keeping warm.

It's funny because im cold all over i live in md and its warm right now but im cold i find myself sleeping in sweatpants socks and a long sleeve t shirt YES it's uncomfortable but with that outfit n a really good comforter im toasty oh yea and thats without the a.c. on.
