Hey everyone. So while on vaca to see hubby's parents I got terribly ill went to ER and wound up spending four days in hospital. They let me go but I'm still quite sick. The Dr said just to watch my temp. And hydration. But I have heard this recurs alit and is very bad on people with immune suppression you can even need surgery to remove your colon. Has anyone else been sick with this how did it go for you. Thanx

Was it the C diff that put you in the hospital, or was it just a little bonus gift from being in? It usually comes from the hospital, and if I remember right, you are no stranger to being an inpatient.

I've never had it, and hope I never do. A friend's 16-year-old son had it last year. It took awhile, but he did kick it. Do they have you on antibiotics? It seems to take hold when you have been on antibiotics, but then is treated with antibiotics. Go figure. Check with your doctor about probiotics, too, whether from yogurt/kefir or from capsules.

It put me in the hospital. I have been on lots if abx for bronchitis they think that combined with all other RA meds and I went to the hospital to see my cousin mayb got it there. I sure hope I can kick it. They have me on 25 day course of vicomiacin a very strong antibiotic for it.

Kim, I had C-Diff 2 yrs ago and I truly thought I was going to die. I had a colonoscopy in Dec(that's where I think I got it as you have to come in contact with the spore).. Then I was on 3 different antibiotics. I was having bad diarrhea.I mean real bad.I started running a 104 fever and terrible abdominal pain. Dr took stool sample and tested positive for C-Diff. Took 2 weeks of flagyl. It came back ...2 more weeks of flagyl. Along with flagyl I took 4 culturell probiotics and floristor probiotic twice a day. Don't take culturelle at same time as antibiotic.Floristor doesn't matter. I continued to take probiotics for a long time. It's a very serious bug. I lost 12 lbs in two weeks and never have been able to gain it back. I have only taken Z-pak since and only as a last resort. The antibiotics that are real bad are ....Amoxyl, Augmentin, cipro and more. If you ever have to take an antibiotic always take plenty of probiotics. Don't go overboard.By the way...it is VERY contagious and the only thing that kills it is bleach. 10 to 1 mixture.everytime you go to bathroom. I wiped sink toilet etc. I go to a site cdiffdiscuss.org and did alot of reserch on my own. Good luck!

My dad had it and almost died from it. His gastro doctor spoke to him "off the record". My dad was told to take Primal Defense...3 pills 3 times a day for a month. Then at the end of that time if he was better to start tapering down. He was also told to ALWAYS take ot when he had to take any antibiotic. I worked like a charm...but it is wxpensive and we had to order it. At that time we didn't have a computer so we had a health food store get it for us.
