Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
I am trying to lose again, but doing lots of dance exercises. I really think you need to be able to jump and leap to build up those muscles, which is not within my ability.
Why does the fat pack on my belly, instead of my butt, is what I want to know!!
I have Osteo in my neck and left side sacriliitis in my S!
i have another spot that hurts and I suspect I have anklyosing spondylitus(not confirmed), because of significan spine and nerve issuse that have started happening.
However, my S!, which i the last jointed vertabae, mostly cause pain a couple of inches above the end and in my hips. The end sometimes is a little sore, but not that bad and the nerses that branch off the tailbone go though the side,, not the bottom. This all being said, I would suspect that you just need to learn to sit differently or more gently until you can build up those muscles, but I think you sould ask your rheumatologist to make sure
And if sitting continues to be a problem you can get one of those cushions...don't remember what they are called, but they are so you can't put weight on your bone while sitting
Hope you can start to feel better soon, tailbone pain isn't much fun!
So, ask Rheumy
and
Buy Cushion!
and
Stupid exercises!
I am suposed to join an exercise therapy group if my neurologist oks it Yuck!
Aggie - yes! I slump all wrong. If I sit up straight I'm curving in. Thanks.
Just a quick comment, try not to walk behind me because of these physical changes occasionally my pants head for the ground. I have taken up wearing very nice and colorful undergarments just in case. The dang problem is by the time one recognizes the downward movement, the speed of deccent is increasing, the first response is to bend and grab, this further accelerates the rate of drop. DO NOT bend at the waist, reach quickly straight down and hope! Suspenders would be an answer if my shoulders could tolerate them but thanks to RA it will continue to be "WATCH OUT BELOW".
I blame this on prednisone especially the lack of butt padding.
@angela - try wearing your fat pack on your butt instead of your belly.
@inkjoy - good exercises. good exercises. good exercises.
@rayguy - pretty underwear won't help if the butt isn't there (butt do wear underwear, please). Have you tried elastic waist bands or even belts? Cute story.
But luckily my mom is my exercise partner and betwwen the two of us we can usually keep going...once I get oked again.
that is all I can say. I sit on pillows as often as possible and get up a lot to move around.
