by that i mean that i don't do face book or my space or any of those things. i'm an idiot when it comes to the internal messaging, hugs, likes/dislikes, etc. i might try and learn for this sight but in the mean time i do apologize and admit my ignorance to those of you who've very kindly offered hugs and such which i've not returned. it's my fault, heck i didn't even learn to compose/send an email until 2005 when my wife entered back into the workforce.....once upon a time she wrote code and operations manuals so when the need arose (actually several times each work day) i'd just call home and she'd handle it for me. when our youngest went to school she decided to switch fields and get out of the house taking away my personal secretary (hmmm, i may have been the reason). my mother calls me at least once a month with "do you know what your daughter (my oldest are 28 and 23 both out on their own) has done?" referring to what they posted on their facebook. i remind momma that is one of the main reasons that i don't do FB, their lives are their lives and if they wish to make confession before the world that is their decision but not mine.

anyway, yes i'm strange but it doesn't bother me however i do not want y'all to think me rude. crude, no problem.

I don't Facebook either! When it was first started, my older son was in college and you had to have an email address that ended in edu so show that you were in college. He claims that "adults" have ruined it! Much prefer more personal contact.

I left Facebook very happily awhile back. It was making me actively dislike people, lol. I also just couldn't keep up - it was stimulation overload, all the things popping up in my newsfeed, I was overwhelmed!

Anyway - just chiming in to say I completely understand not doing the social thing - I don't think it's "rude/crude" at all. I do like to give people virtual "hugs" here on DS, but I don't expect them back - and it wouldn't offend me at all to not get one back. : )

Hey nonightshades,

I wouldn't sweat that. I don't participate in MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, etc...

I just really don't have any interest in it. But, I am a texting son-of-a-gun. This keeps me in touch with my grown children and my family is the mainstay in my life.

I hope you feel that you can be yourself on this board. Personally, I am non judge-mental because I know everyone here has their own struggles like myself.

Please feel safe to be yourself and offer any input you care to participate in.

This is my favorite forum on the Internet and everyone here is special to me.

I'm sure there are more like-minded people than myself here in this regard.

I value any experiences you would care to share and any input you would like to make.

no explanation needed here :). i triied to tell folks on my bio that they could email me anytime for anything. i am friends with each and everyone one of you without the interface of a system. :) - please know that :)

I am a voluntary luddite here.

I have to do enough of it at work.

i have that story from years ago when someone on here volunteered to call me on my first biologic injection so she could walk me through it rather than watching a nurse video! isn't that awesome?? :)

I like to pay it back. i might not do it by blinking little emoticons or friendship lists but I an a huge emailer in my family life and circle of friends. i keep my friends tied together and my family too. at work I am the great communicator :)

i also think you are all great in your own individual way.

i am enjoying the support of this group enormously. i have gotten sicker so I need you all more.

i am not invincible, I just like to pretend that I am :)

oh, you dont have to be sorry for not being social. you just be WHAT YOU ARE then you are happy. i do have a facebook account but i hardly login that site.

Glad you venture out enough to even post to our gang! That says a lot about what you must think of us.

Actually I wish I could be more like you and disconnect from the social media a bit more. To think of all I could have done with all those hours spent on the web....

I have a FB page, but it's only for gaming. In fact, only 2 of my "friends" on there are actually people I know! :D

I do very little text messages. I find it much easier to just call the person and ask/tell them what I want!

I don't post a lot here, I mostly read/learn. I just sent my first hug today, lol. So still learning how to navigate this site myself!

Your choice to get into the COMPUTER world or not..I know my father and I feel out of the fad while sitting in any business and everyone of every age is using some electronic device..
So no need to apologize.I think having the world rely on computers is stupid.

I don't do the social media either. I have worked in the cyber security world for many years and I value my privacy, So, don't think yourself as anti social.
