Thanksgiving Day is a time when people pause to reflect and give thanks for what has been granted to them. Such positive thinking is particularly helpful for those who suffer from chronic conditions. What are you thankful for?

I am thankful for my loving, supportive family and friends. Especially in those times when I don't feel well, I appreciate the patience, non- judgement, and gentle hand or hug. I am thankful for the prayers that have been said on my behalf, to a loving God who is somehow using my challenges for my good. I am thankful for groups such as this, where I can express myself and ask questions to people I know understand and help. In reading about what others face, I realize my issues pale in comparison to others- a helpful reminder when I start to feel frustrated. After being on Enbrel since July, I have had nearly a month where the RA pain is lessened. I am so thankful I still can work yet and have a job, even though many days are difficult. I am grateful that I am still independent and can perform most daily tasks. I have learned not to take things for granted but to cherish what has been granted to me.

It is great to take time out to remember what we are thankful for. I am thankful for:
Hurricane Sandy not doing more damage than it did to my area. Lost power and heat for 5 days and my apple tree was uprooted and needs to be cut down. Could have been so much worse.
Thankful that my 81 year ole mom is still with me though she has Alzheimer's.
My son's, daughter-in-law and my family.
Having great friends!!
I am able to get up and go to work even with mod-severe RA.
I have a job to go to.
I am thankful to be able to care for myself and move about without assistance.
I am thankful for being me.

Even now that Thanksgiving is over per say, As we approach the upcoming holidays we should all be able to think of what we should be thankful for. Even though we are dealing with an awful disease, we can be thankful that it is not something much worse that we have to deal with and we must realize things could be worse.
