I've been having so many problems with flares. I had heard about some people using the "arthritis gloves" so I went to the medical supply company and got some. They really do work! The lady there measured my hand to get the right fit. After about 20 minutes my hand started feeling much better. The lady at the store said that they help keep the heat in and stabalize the joints. These are my new best friends. Don't get me wrong, the pain didn't go away completely but it helped. I may have to go get shots in those joints because it's just getting worse. Up and down on Prednisone constantly. Start Orencia tomorrow and I hear that takes up to 6 weeks to work. Hope everyone has a good day tomorrow!

My occupational therapist gave me some gloves. Open finger ends, black heavy rubber with dimples in the palms. I use them anytime the joints in my hands are uncomfortable, swollen, etc. The brand is Thermoskin. They hold in heat. My RA Dr always wants to shake hands when he comes into the exam room and there are times I don't want him squeezing my hands. If I wear the gloves he doesn't try to shake. I certainly would recommend them.

Braces are great!
I have:
Either hand, light, heat retaining
L R Hands, Heavy duty support
L R Ankles, Heavy duty support
Neck, light
Sacrum/lower back, Heavy duty support
and ordered a shouler posture support brace, Heavy duty

But one has to be careful about wearing them too much and weakening the muscles...But on a painful day, in anyone of these areas...YES!!!
And I thing I'll get knee brace too, and elbows, My husband said I might as well have the complete set. They are all black, except the lightweight hand one.

I have the lightweight IMAK gloves. They work well for me. A little compression and a little warmth. I don't need heavy duty anything and the fact that the fingertips are open allows me to work in them. I posted a recommendation for them over the weekend here on this site. Glad you found something to work for you!
