Hi Trish, my husband got me one last year for Christmas. It does feel nice on achy hands and wrists. But the effects didnt last long enough. This year he got me mittens and booties with herbal packs in them ,. They can be used in the freezer or microwave. I like these much better because they stay hot much longer. There called Dream time and he ordered them from the arthitis foundation web site.

I have a wax bath and hardly use it because it takes forever to heat up and the warmth doesn't last long enough to really work. I would look into buying some microwavable mitts.

I use something called Ther-all gloves from my pharmacy. About $40. I wear them at night. They help with the pain and swelling. If you want them and can't find them, I will give you the # to my pharmacy. They are machine washable and worn daily, a pair lasts me about 12 or 13 months.

I have a parrifin machine and can't use it because my wrists don't bend so I can't get my hands in it.

I have the paraffin too, from when I was buying everything I could find that might help. It's kind of clunky still sitting on the bathroom counter, but I plug it in and use it every now and then. I feel like it gets the heat down deep into my hands. The one I got (from Bed, Bath & Beyond) came with plastic bags that you put over your hands after dipping. I do that, and then put my hand into an oven mitt to retain the heat even longer.

All that being said, it is kind of a hassle. I have microwave mitts too, and while they don't get the heat down as deep as the wax, they are SO much simpler to use.

I buy the hand and feet warmers that come in packages at walgreens or CVS. Then I just stick them in my slippers or in a pair of gloves and they stay warm for up to 12 hours. I like them and they are inexpensive.

Thank goodness for my mom who likes to splurge and by them for me too! :-)

Omaha! I use those too...but I buy them at a sporting goods store. I usually just buy a big box at a time. haha
