Anyone tried research studies?

I can't afford the infusions that they want me to do. So i have been doing research studies the one I just got off of didn't do anything. This next one I am doing is a shot. though I know I could be on the placebo but its the only way i can try any new medications because embrel and humeria i had bad reactions to. This new one I am going to try they make ne stay at the doctors office for 6 hours for monitor when they give me the shot and I get 150 dollars for that and i can get the comfort that if anything happens I am there all do. then i go up periodically for regular visits. I guess i get the shot on day 1 and day 15 then no injection for awhile anyone ellse on something like this?

I just recently (about a month ago) started in a research study for Orencia. I give myself a shot once/week. So far I'm seeing a bit of improvement so am happy about that and keeping fingers crossed. Haven't done any infusions so can't answer about that. Good luck to you. Hope you find relief with this study.

I am in a long term study for Kineret, but I still have to pay. The original testing of Remicade, 50% of the placebo group felt much better. But the xrays showed they were getting worse. So they discontinued the placebo group, and gave everyone the drug, and used the information they got without a control group. I think that is scientific integrity, combined with compassion and fairness. And an amazing fact about the placebo effect. People thought they felt better, when their joints were getting worse.

Have you thought about contacting the drug companies. Many of them have assistance programs in the US. Good luck, I hope you get the meds you need.

Its not an infusion its just a shot, I want to try infusions but they don't have any open. I have tried contacting the drug companies but I haven't had any luck:( Just have to keep having hopes and patiences.
