I was just curious, has anyone switched from Enbrel to Humira?
I have been on Enbrel for almost 2 years now. I know it works as we have tried to space the shots further apart and I was miserable in a very short amount of time. I also take Arava and Naproxen daily. Unfortunately, I am still in a lot of pain and end up taking between 4-6 tramadol a day on top of the other meds.
I saw the Rheumie yesterday and he thinks that maybe it is time to move away from the Enbrel and onto something else.
I am only a few days away from a new insurance plan year starting, and am trying to manipulate my meds to cover the Out of Pocket max. Thank goodness for the Enbrel copay assistance, they will help me meet the $6350.00.
The Rheumie gave me until my next appt in January to figure out what I can/want to do.
So, has anyone had any better luck with Humira than they did on Enbrel?

Now i'm on orencia - working 3+ years. . Sounds like you need to switch.
I am on JUST Orencia and feel like I don;t have RA! Gotta keep trying to get what works for you.

It looks as if the Insurance situation will work out ok for me.
The Boss doesn't want me on the large group plan due to the amount of my yearly claims; $50,000.00 a year is a little high, I guess.
So, he has worked a deal to get me on a small group where I won't affect next years rates as much.
Much better situation for both of us.
I guess the next call is to let the Rheumie know that I can make the switch before we hit the dead of winter here.
I'll keep you posted as to what he puts me on and if I see a difference.

They both worked the same for me. I was put back on Methotrexate with Humira and it controlled the chronic pain for the most part. I still had flares from time to time and had some fatigue.
I was changed to Remicade the first of this year and for the first time in years, I have no chronic pain and I feel like my old self again. In fact, there are times I forget that I have RA.

I started Xeljanz last night. So, we will see how it goes.
Stephgas, the Xeljanz copay card contributes $8000.00 per calendar year.
The only problem I had with them was they told me they had faxed my prescription to the Specialty Pharmacy and a week later the Pharmacy still hadn't received it. Docs office went straight to Pharmacy with a Rush prescription and I received it the next day.
I am so hoping this one works :)
