i think it has to due with length of time out on the market. If i remember right simponi is a newer drug its not quite as tested as enbrel and humira. At least that is what my rheumy tells me.

I was given a sample shot and I loved it. My pain was gone within a day. I was so excited to be getting on something that was going to work but it wasn't to be. My insurance company decided that I couldn't have it. So much for medical need. The strangest part was that it wouldn't have cost them hardly anything. Go figure.

I'm still waiting on my insurance to approve it. Hopefully it works for me. Most of my pain is in my ankles and feet but I am hoping to find some relief.

I haven't been on here in a long time. . Just coping with my RA using
Plaquenil.. but today at RA dr. I mentioned that my hands were stiff.
I have been afraid of biologic for numerous reasons. She mentioned
Simponi. She said once s month and not painful and seems to have good success. I called my insurance after going to lab for all the tests necessary. . I'm on medicare but have my government bc/bs as supplemental. . They will cover with a letter from Dr. Said the mail in specialty pharmacy will mail out monthly for $55... when looking at the cost online. .a steal. She will give me the initial shot for free to see how I do and while waiting for insurance. I'm anxious for have better use of my fingers. . I'll keep you posted. Donna

I saw it cost $2900 with no insurance. They also have a savings plan through the manufacture that makes it cheaper. It is on their website so I would call and see what they say. I was told to call back once I find out how much my insurance will cover.
