It MIGHT. I haven't tried it. I, personally, do not believe in treating just the pain without stopping the inflammation that causes the pain and if untreated can cause serious and permanent joint damage - crippling.

I have been lucky. Orenica has me in remission for 8+ years.

Of course for people without health insurance choices have to be made based on cost. Also, people who have found no relief from traditional medicine might benefit from it.

Losing weight from RA or is something else going on? What have the doctors said about this? She shouldn't be in that much pain. What medications does she take?

I'm not doubting you. I'm concerned. It makes me think either her doctors aren't treating her aggressively enough or she has more than RA. Or both. Or maybe there is a reason they can't treat her more aggressively?

Sorry. I just get worried when I hear stuff like this. It tells me her meds aren't working or she can't get any.

NoGrip, I lost 60 pounds the first 8 months after diagnosis. My state hasn't any legal form of legalized weed so I cannot make any comment upon your question personally. However, I've heard that it does nothing to slow or stop RA but can dull the pain somewhat and will bring on a desire to eat.

Oh, I've gained twenty pounds and have stabilized my weight for the last three and a half years.

I use medical marijuana for sleeping but it helps a lot with pain too.

It doesn’t treat your illness but sure take your pain away.

You might try to locate a forum with roots in the UK where they use it quite a bit for pain.

But as it was pointed out, if there's that much pain, then it would appear the inflammation isn't under control. Control the inflammation, control the pain.

Weight loss? I would suspect something else going on.

I have lost weight due to gastroparesis (slow emptying of the stomach)which started in the summer with symptoms of RA before getting a diagnosis. From doing some research it does happen from RA. I can control it to a certain extent by eating small meals and watching how I feel, sometimes I cannot lie down at night as I am to full. Ginger has become a best friend and make sure I have it on hand

Exactly what I was thinking... could be a co-diagnosis of gastroparesis and needs medication. They usually use Domperidone in the UK, I think. The other pain does sound like uncontrolled inflammation unless it is the abdominal pain from gastroparesis. Either way, it sounds like the doctor needs to be called. Masking pain only creates trouble long term.
