dh and i are going to disney for our 10th anniversary. we leave this saturday for a week at the happiest place on earth. i'm very excited :D
i was planning on renting a scooter for the length of the trip, but dh wanted to push me in a wheelchair. sounds strange, i know. but if we did the scooter he'd have to break it down to put it in the car every time we drove somewhere. plus the wheelchair is a lot cheaper. and he said since our resort doesn't have a gym, pushing me around all day will be like working out lol. i felt bad about his 6'2" self pushing me because he can't stand up straight so i even ordered special handle extenders so he can stand up straight.. they add up to 8" so he should have no trouble - and no added back pain.
i've been pretty bad recently. we were both hoping that i'd be able to do some walking, but i don't know how realistic that is. it's like i'm so excited to get back to disney and excited to have time with my husband and excited to celebrate. but I'm also nervous about being in a chair and having to sit on a plane and worrying about fatigue. just venting i guess. at least i'm not on any drugs that suppress my immune system - and am planning on getting my flu shot today.

the last time i was there i was muttering under my breath as a whole bunch of overheated teenagers were playing instruments in their east coast wool marching uniforms as a band chaperone. BAD idea on my part. the disease was over the top and so was the whining from the high schoolers about their dripping sweat uniforms my joints looked like the good year blimp.
i know you will fare better in your chair - and with fall weather and NOT in a wool uniform :) take some nsaids with you :) and make sure you are very sweet to the wheel chair operator :)

Be sure to drop by City Hall to speak with Guest Relations about disabled access. Unfortunately for those with legitimate mobility issues, Disney has revamped its access system for the disabled, but the GR folks are well-versed on the best ways for guests to see the parks and they are likely to have lots of helpful tips for you. Enjoy - October is one of the best months to visit WDW!
